Far from top of the line but a good example of the average, if not lower level box.

Background:
Giving you a little bit of my gaming background will most likely give you a little insight to what I have to compare S.T.A.L.K.E.R against.

I've spent most of my game time playing COD, CODUO, COD2, FarCry, Quake4, and the Half-Life series.

Pre-Installation:
While the game was installing I took a look at the included manual and the publisher's website located here THQ.
The story states: On April 26, 1986, the world's worst nuclear accident occurred: Reactor 4 of the Chernobyl power station exploded, releasing clouds of radioactive matter. Soviet authorities established a 30km 'Exclusion Zone' around this nuclear wasteland, but in 2006 a second explosion rocked the stricken reactor...

Installation:
First thing I did after installing is check online to see if there were any updates. I went to THQ's support page and clicked on the 'CLICK HERE FOR NEW PATCHES' link, nothing came up for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I also took a minute to look through the S.T.A.L.K.E.R FAQs.

A couple of issues:
I spent the first night with the game locking up my computer.
As I overclock my card I may have to play with the cards numbers a bit to get settings a game is happy with. But just in case, I googled on the problem and found the games site which does have a patch in it's 'Downloads' section. After installing the patch, no more lockups.

When setting up my controls I couldn't get the game options to recognize anything past button 3 on my mouse. Having 7 buttons I've grown accustomed to using them all. This is a big hit for me as I now have to decide what are the most important features to map to the mouse and N52. I'm too old and uncoordinated to use mouse, n52 and keyboard all at the same time:), and as you will see this game is much more than your average FPS. Note: as of patch 1.003 the game now recognizes all my mouse buttons.

All Right!!! Ready to play!!!
