| V-Moda Vibe Earphones |

| |
| Up for review are the V-Moda Vibe
Modaphones personal earbud headphones. The suggested
retail price is $101. |
 |
| |
| Components: |
| The wire is encased in vinyl with a
metal plug and a metal “V” where the left and
right bud separate. The earbuds themselves are also
metal with exchangeable silicone ear inserts. The
inserts come in three sizes and are made of both a
denser black silicone and a lighter clear silicone.
There is a small carrying pouch to store the
headphones when not in use and a silicone separator
bar that is meant to keep the wires from tangling. |

| Usability: |
| I’ve practically been living in
these headphones. The sound is great. I am impressed
with their ability to pick up the quietest of
background sound and voices. When they are in my ears,
they are quite comfortable. I have an Mp3 player from
which I listen to music (from classical to techno),
audiobooks and podcasts. I wear the audio player
around the house to clean, cook and manicure the lawn.
I also am active and take it hiking and walking most
every day of the week. I also have used them to
meditate and I’ve taken them on an airplane. I’ve
really given these headphones a test. |

| Durability: |
| I’ve been using the V-Moda Vibe
Modaphones for almost two solid months of daily use
and they are still in excellent shape. I appreciate
that all the bits are metal, not plastic. This makes
them more durable. My only future concern is for the
junction of the plug (where the headphones actually
connect with the Mp3 player) and the vinyl coated
wire. There are signs that the vinyl coating is
beginning to score and wear at the area where it
connects to the metal. |
| I fear the vinyl will eventually
crack there, exposing the wires and leading to
breakage. Where the wires connect to the earbuds,
there is a small black silicone nub that is flexible
and allows the wires to move freely without rubbing
against the metal bud. |
 |
| I would like to see the same flexible
nub on all sides of any metal that connects with wire,
including the “V” separator in the center. I’d
hate to spend $101 and have the wires break after a
few months. |
| |
| In the past two months, I’ve also
noticed the vinyl coating on the wire has stiffened a
bit. I’m not sure why, but just doesn’t seem to
drape as well as when I first started using them. I’m
hopeful they won’t become so stiff that the vinyl
cracks over time. |
